I’m not a fan of summer, it’s hot, it’s humid and my hair…is…crazy.
So usually just try to grin and bear it. I have an ignore it and it will go away mentality…and it usually does…by September. Once September rolls around all of the fall clothing starts hitting the stores, and it’s so exciting! I loooooove fall, and to be honest my fall wardrobe is way better. More about that in a later post!
So back to summer, a lot of my issue revolves around summer clothing. I’ve reached a point in life where tiny shorts are not so appropriate, neither is showing a lot of skin. It’s finding the right balance between covering up, staying cool and not looking 30 years older.
After some soul (and online) searching I think I found the right balance. In the last year, I overhauled my summer wardrobe and this is what I’ve come up with.
Maxi Dresses are great for pretty much anything in the summer. The right maxi can take you to work, dinner and even to a summer wedding. Not to mention, they are breezy and very forgiving.
I love linen pants for summer! I mean they are like street legal pajamas, I just don’t think it gets any better. Here are a few great options.
While I totally believe in winter white, summer is the season for bright white jeans. There are so many possibilities. I love the clean crisp look of white jeans with a navy top, pair that with a neutral sandal and viola!
Speaking of neutral sandals. Neutral sandals are great for the simple fact that they go with everything. Sometimes in the summer you just don’t want to wear black as your ‘goes with everything shoe”
Just as we opt for something lighter and shed the weight in our summer clothing it’s also fun to do the same with our handbags or totes. Summer gives us an excuse to show off lighter colors and styles.
